Toyo Steel has been making steel toolboxes in Osaka since 1969. It was the first company to use deep-drawing technology to press a toolbox from a single sheet of steel, so the body has no seams or welds. That makes Toyo boxes strong, dust-resistant and remarkably long-lasting.
The designs have barely changed in decades, because they didn't need to. Toyo toolboxes have won both Good Design and Long Life Design awards in Japan, and their tight-fitting lids, tough paint finish and well-judged sizes make them as useful in the kitchen, studio or bedroom as they are in the workshop or out in the garden.
