Shinwa Precision Squares

These squares are beautifully machined from S50C carbon tool steel. They are shipped from the factory with a protective layer of oil applied. While this needs to be removed before use, we recommend storing the squares in its box or in a location where it can't accumulate dust. If left unprotected for long periods of time, these squares may be susceptible to rust - though none of ours have yet been affected in our workshop.

50mm

This square is a precision tool manufactured by Shinwa to specific tolerances. In its 50mm-long form, the blade measures 50mm along its long edge, is 10mm wide and has a 40mm long base.

We have found this small square excellent in the checking of small components. It is equally at home in the shop of a woodworker or engineer.

All Shinwa precision squares ship with a factory warranty of squareness. This model's tolerance to square is +/-7μm along its blade. If it should not meet these tolerances, it is covered by a factory warranty. Please note that rough handling or dropping of the tool would void this warranty.

75mm

This square is a precision tool manufactured by Shinwa to specific tolerances. In its 75mm-long form, the blade measures 75mm along its long edge, is 13mm wide and has a 50mm long base.

We have found this small square excellent in the checking of small components and marking out joinery. It is equally at home in the shop of a woodworker or engineer.

All Shinwa precision squares ship with a factory warranty of squareness. This model's tolerance to square is +/-9.5μm along its blade. If it should not meet these tolerances, it is covered by a factory warranty. Please note that rough handling or dropping of the tool would void this warranty.

100mm

This square is a precision tool manufactured by Shinwa to specific tolerances. In its 100mm-long form, the blade measures 100mm along its long edge, is 15mm wide and has a 70mm long base.

We have found this small square excellent in the checking of small components, though its weight makes it less suitable to use as a general woodworking square than other Shinwa try-squares. It is excellent for the setting of fences and guides.

150mm

This square is a precision tool manufactured by Shinwa to specific tolerances. In its 150mm-long form, the blade measures 150mm along its long edge, is 19mm wide and has a 100mm long base.

We have found this small square excellent for the setting and checking of machinery fences and blades, and as a master square which can be used to check other squares against in the shop. Its weight makes it impractical for every-day use as a woodworking try square, though its heavy base helps it to stand upright easily for use with flat reference planes.

200mm

This square is a precision tool manufactured by Shinwa to specific tolerances. In its 200mm-long form, the blade measures 200mm along its long edge, is 22mm wide and has a 130mm long base.

We have found this small square excellent for the setting and checking of machinery fences and blades, and as a master square which can be used to check other squares against in the shop. Its weight makes it impractical for every-day use as a woodworking try square, though its heavy base helps it to stand upright easily for use with flat reference planes.
