Tataki Nomi Carpenter's Chisels

Tataki chisels are slightly larger than Japanese Bench Chisels. They are considered a "striking chisels" for use with most hammers. Crafted with red oak handles, these chisels are a higher finish grade than our Tadatsuna set, and are also available as single chisels in addition to the full 5-piece set.

For those looking for heft and drive from their chisels, Tataki are the best choice. Measuring 300mm. these foot-long monsters weigh 250g and up. Their laminated edges use White Paper #2 Steel (Shirogami #2), able to take a fantastic edge and yet still happy to be driven deep.

The 12mm size has vertical sides, resembling Western morticing chisels and perfectly suited to cutting out square mortices for pins in large joinery. The 24, 30, 36 and 42mm models have bevelled tops.

When purchased as a 5-piece set, we include a white canvas roll to keep your chisels protected and organised.
