Dai Naoshi Kanna - Chamfered Sides

This Dai Naoshi kanna is designed to condition the soles of other Japanese planes.

This beautiful example features a handmade blue paper steel #2 blade, however, what makes it especially interesting are the chamfered sides of the block. 

These chamfers allow the user to see exactly where the blade of the dai naoshi kanna is contacting the dai they are working on, making it easier to work only the desired areas without bringing the two blades too close together.

The blade is also skewed across the sole at an angle of ten degrees.
