Suehiro Japanese Whetstone - New Cerax #1000 Grit (CR-1000-B Large)

$102.00

Description

The #1000 Cerax Water stone is perfectly suited to the beginning of the sharpening process where the blade is dulled but in good condition and heavy work is not required on the bevel. It is also suitable for beginning the sharpening process of a new blade, as long as the blade profile is close to the desired shape. It leaves a slightly cloudy finish, but the slurry of the #1000 stone can be worked on a piece of wood to act like a strop, which raises the finish to a good polish.

The #1000 Cerax Water stone by Suehiro Niigata Japan is renowned for its fast cutting surface and its longevity. Not only is it Europe's best selling water stone, it also has a very solid reputation in Japan and the rest of the world. Widely used across the woodworking and culinary professions; these stones are made from slow-wearing ceramic particles which act as the perfect abrasive for high carbon steel and tool steel alloy such as Vanadium and Chromium.

This stone has a large surface area and is perfect for the first stage in sharpening a new blade or a general maintenance for all your blades.

The housing is complete with rubber feet for safety, stability and ease when sharpening. With features to suit an array of uses, it is easy to see why the Cerax Water stone is a best seller.

I’m still learning to sharpen my knives and tools, but this is an excellent piece of equipment, with a wide sharpening surface. It comes in a plastic holder with grip feet so very stable.
