Shapton Glass Stone - #500 HR

$64.00 $85.00

Description

Shapton glass stones are known for their exceptional quality, durability, and ease of use. Made with finely graded ceramic cutting media that requires less flattening and lasts 4-5 times longer than most water stones.

Each stone is composed of a 5mm tempered glass backing plate fused to a 5mm thick stone. The abrasives are extremely uniform, meaning the abrasive encountered with the first pass of a blade will be the same as the 5000th pass.

The Shapton Glass Stone #500HR grit is designed to fix small chips and nicks in blades.

With a 29.4 micron particle size, this stone is intended for setting a bevel or fixing a small chip in the blade of a straight razor

This is a 'splash and go' style of stone so soaking is not required. Before use, spray the Glass Stone with water, or dampen with a clean wet cloth and begin sharpening (you sharpen on the ceramic side, not the glass). Use extremely light, even pressure and lead with the cutting edge. As with all water hones Shapton Glass Stones do wear concave with use and require periodic lapping (flattening).

Allow to air dry in indirect sun prior to storing the stone.

Model: 50102
Size: 70mm x 210mm
Made in: Japan
