Etsuoh Plane Straightedge

The Etsuoh straight edge is a precision tool for the tuning of kanna. It is used to diagnose the exact behaviour of your plane sole before removing material to tune the sole of a plane.

This straightedge is a double-bevel design that gives it an extremely fine edge. From our first tests against a granite lapping plate and other straight edges it is extremely accurate. We don't have the tools to verify it's tolerance at the moment. When we do, we will.

The elongated cutout is used together with the adjustable stop. These two features allow the user to consistently reference their plane against the straightedge consistently and accurately, whether straight along the bed or diagonally. 

This Etsuoh straight edge comes in a beautifully made thick leather case to protect it. We recommend oiling lightly after use to prevent rust and storing in a dry part of your workshop.
