To start with, I LOVE ***' SAWS.
I've been in the joinery industry since 1981 and woodworking passionately since 1988 and I've been using *** style saws for about 20+ yrs.
'First time I tried one at a woodwork show, I just looked sideways at my mate and smiled with a knowing nod... "Yep.. these are the goods." ''Been sold ever since.
This one however is a Euro style tooth, set to cut on the pull and doesnt have the same finesse as my other *** saws. I have a couple of double edged pull saws (cross and rip) this saw is different though. Not the same as my other bigger *** rip saws. Think european saw turned backwards..Not nearly as nice as the rip side of other jjap combo saws. And mine tracks badly to the left. Maybe I got a bad one..?. that in itself is sad.
At the same time as I bought this, my mate bought a Lie Nielsen dovetail saw, 0.42mm kerf. We ran them side by side,, wow.. chalk and cheese. *** saws have, for me always out performed their more expensive Euro counterparts, but not this one.
