Komame Ryoba Saw 240mm

Description

With its two different tooth patterns, the Ryoba saw ensures optimum cutting performance not only across but also along the grain, making it the most versatile saw for carpentry and joinery. The thicker saw blade allows backless control and thus cuts of any depth flush to the surface. Gyokucho use a method called impulse hardening to increase the durability of the tooth tips.

The cutting edge is heated for 0.003~0.005 seconds by applying an electrical current, instantly hardening the surface of the steel while maintaining the flexibility inside. As a result, the saw’s wear resistance increases. The hardened saw tooth is much harder than sharpening files so the blade cannot be sharpened and needs to be replaced once it is dull.

Blade length is 240mm with 23 teeth/30mm and 0.45mm thickness.

Blade Thickness:0.45mm Kerf: 0.73mm

Replacement blade: Available (item#S-611)

Handle type: Magnolia wood wrapped with rattan offers a comfortable grip

Great Saw

First time I have used a Japanese saw and I can't fault it. I'm relatively new to wood working and I found, compared to saws bought from the big Hardware stores, this saw ticked all the boxes. I'll definitely be looking to expand the range in my toolbox.

I enjoy this saw

I am absolutely new to wood working and have no idea if how good this is, but it works perfectly for me, cuts wood I pointed it at quickly and nicely. Looks beautiful, handles comfortably in hands. Nothing much more to say.

Good and handy

It's a good all round saw for the workshop. I keep it on a board at the back of my workbench and it gets used more than any other handsaw

The other must have saw.

In the real world, on site etc, the truth is you don't always have the time or luxury to treat your saws kindly. You need a saw that's light, fast cutting and able to get in to awkward places.
I have four of these saws.
Two are abused and two are kept for fine work. Gyukucho make excellent blades. Really sharp and fast cutting.
Not as forgiving as the Zeta brand which is much more pitched at carpenter's, these guys really have excelled at refining the teeth geometry and heat treating. Crazy good value and quality. Get one as a beater and one for best work.
